Fischerrandom:
The beginposition of the pieces (not pawns) is chosen randomly (the black
position being symmetric to the white), with two conditions: The bishops end
up on different coloured squares, and the king ends up between the two
rooks.
Castling follows the same rules (not while in check, no castling through
guarded squares, squares between king and rook should be unoccupied).
Queenside castling is done by moving the king to c1 and the rook closest to
the a-line to d1. Both squares should be empty, or occupied by the
king/rook. Similarly, kingside castling finishes with a king on g1 and a
rook on f1.
In the diagram position, three castlings are possibly legal: black queenside
castling, and both white castlings.

Portoroz!
