Subject: [Retros] Yefim's funny SPG problem 11/13/2004
Hello from Yefim.
Have in mind that for many positions a set of SPG is much more than 1. The following simple examples you may use for instructional purposes (and please check my solutions).
How many SPG exist for the following positions with my answers:
rnbqkbnr/pppp1ppp/8/4p3/4P3/8/PPPP1PPP/RNBQKBNR w KQkq
Answer is: 1!=1;
rnbqkbnr/ppp2ppp/8/3pp3/3PP3/8/PPP2PPP/RNBQKBNR w KQkq
Answer is (2!)^2=4;
rnbqkbnr/ppp3pp/8/3ppp2/3PPP2/8/PPP3PP/RNBQKBNR w KQkq
(3!)^2=81;
...
rnbqkbnr/8/8/pppppppp/PPPPPPPP/8/8/RNBQKBNR w KQkq
Answer is (8!)^2=1625702400;
I hope, you understood the idea and now a funny example for you to solve.
rnbqkbnr/ppp2ppp/4p3/4P3/3p4/3P4/PPP2PPP/RNBQKBNR w KQkq
How many SPG for this?
