[Retros] Introduction to Proof Games

Dear retro friends,

the first article on the task 'Valladao' published by Joaquim Valladao
Monteiro in O Globo 8th nov. 1965 uses the word 'promocao' (= promotion, not
under promotion)and the example of J. V. Monteiro itself has a promotion to
Q (=R) and Q (= B). The 1. and 2. prizes of the Valladao tourney initiated
by J. M. V. Monteiro 1965 have promotions to Q (=R) as well. It was the same
with later Valladao tourneys (e.g. in Die Schwalbe 1973). So there is no
doubt that Valladao means any promotion.

A different thing is that a promotion to R or B is more attrractive than to
Q.
