yes, it can be improved by 1/2 a move
simply by reversing sides with the
same idea:

1. h2-h4  Ng8-f6
2. Rh1-h3  Nf6-e4
3. Rh3-d3  Ne4xd2
4. Rd3xd7  Nd2xBf1
5. Rd7xc7  Nf1-e3
6. Ng1-h3  Qd8xQd1++

I don't know if the solution is unique.
