Wolfowitz was by far the most successful and popular American ambassador
to Indonesia, for many years.

The one time I spoke to him, I asked him what it wa like as a high-profile
Jew, in a country which is mostly Muslim (85%+) and does not even have
diplomatic relations with Israel.

He said that the only time he noticed it was when he gave a magazine
interview, which touched on most of his personal and professional history.
He mentioned to the interviewer that he was an American Jew -- and that
was the one thing that did not make it into the magazine.

I found him interesting and articulate. But he's apparently consumed with
ambition: why else would he play ball with those dopes in the White House?
