I sold 4 lambs this year to local people I met at our local farmers market.  I sold them for $1 per pound live weight estimated and I prepared the people for smaller lambs.  Our butcher helped me with an estimation of live weights based on hanging weights.  Last year I had a place that could weigh the live lambs.  This year I sent them in October and they were really small about 35# hanging or approximately 55 live.  Last year I sent two, one was a cross, and they were 75(cross) and 95 pounds live but I sent them in November and the beginning of January respectively.
   
  I like selling to people locally but I think it's way easier to send them to the local markets and I get close to the same price with less work for me.  I like getting the pelts though so I probably make it up that way.
