You wouldn't need to buy the outer rim on a 3-piece - if your single piece
was repairable, then so would bee outer rim on a 3-piece.
And it would most likely be cheaper as handling of the outer rim (dish) will
be far easier for than the handling of a bulky single piece wheel.
BUT why repair the outer rim on a 3-pece for $125 when you can buy one new
for 50 gbp...which is approx 90 USD. So buying the outer rim IS cheaper than
refurbing.
As I said before, it is NOT the components of the multi-piece wheels that
aer expensive - it's the cost of labor/assembly process which adds to the
cost, as well as the benefits of multi-piece wheels over single piece
wheels.
