Dan,

I had something similar. Mine however is an 88.  Mine worked fine for a 
while then it just would not work.  You could see the clutch kick in then it 
would shut off.  I had plenty of gas in the systems and I knew all sensors 
were good as I replaced them in the conversion process. Then all together it 
quite working and only worked when it wanted too.  To make a long story 
short in my case it turned out to be the A/C E.T.R. Switch (evaporator 
temperature switch).  I replaced that and that solved the problem.  But I 
would also say through some gauges on there and see if you have enough gas 
in the system.  R134a will leak out in these benzs so I check the gas first. 
I genearly have to top mine off once a season.  So for 5 bucks for some gas, 
I cant complain.  I just wish they made a correct suction hoses that is 
barrier rated so the darn gas won;t leak out.
