Today I finally got around to pulling my rear seat and fixing the
intermittent noise that I was having.
I found with no one in the rear seat that I would quite often get a
rattling noise from the rear, as if the seat was loose. I had heard
about a bush kit for the rear seat and had actually purchased the bushes
but never got around to fitting them.
The part number is 201 992 12 05 and you need three of them. When I
ordered them and told the dealer what I wanted them for he looked a
little suprised.
Well I had to rewire my cabling in the rear for some new speakers so I
pulled the rear seat today and sorted out a few things.
The bushes slot into the top mount on the top of the seat mounting frame
on the car. The seat has three prongs that drop into holes in the top
piece of the frame. Without the bushes the seat could move around a bit
on the frame in certain circumstances.
When I had the seat out I cleaned the area out and fixed a wiring bodge
from a DPO and ran my new speaker cabling. The seat frame on the car
that carries the top piece of the seat could actually rattle a little
bit when jiggled and I worried that these bushes wouldn't fix that
sound.
Well I finally got it all back together and when for a ride and it's
awesome, no noise at all in any position. Hope it lasts.
Matt.
