Hey everyone,

There are 5-speeds out there (and 4-speeds, too), I have seen two. The first was an '85 300D, equipped with a five speed, that I looked at in 1994 when I was looking for my first Mercedes. I ended up buying an '82 300SD, because the 300D had been wrecked, and the 300SD had lower mileage (106,000, best I recall). The second manual car was a '79 350 SLC (yes, a 350, it was a gray market car, a model never sold in the US) with a 4-speed. It was a customer's car, and was for sale at the time (about three years ago). I drove it, was unimpressed. It was underpowered, and desperately needed a fifth gear (35-3700 RPM @ 75-80MPH.
Would love to find the complete set-up to go in my SEC. I have always preferred a manual to an automatic, except in drag racing.

                     Later,
              Christopher Huffine
