Dear Otto, retro-friends,
The FIDE Album 1959-1961 (1966) contains a foreword in 3
languages written by N.Petrovic, where he refers to the codex.
The English and German versions refer to one and the same
Problem No 55-60, p.117 (Codex for Chess-compositions and
"Kodex fuer Schachkompositionen", resp.) whereas the
Russian version refers to "Mladost", Bull. 3-a, Aug.1958,
p.11 (Kodeks zadachnykh shakhmat).
>From this I suppose that
(1) there is no official English version of the Codex 1958,
and its English translation was not published before 1966
(at least in "Problem");
(2) the copy of the Codex in Russian I possess is indeed
the Russian version of the Codex 1958.
As to the latter,
(1) it is only for problem chess, without studies;
(2) its Russian is not good;
(3) it does not correspond exactly to the German text,
e.g., it contains 69 commentaries instead of 62.
Of course all this has nothing more than a historical interest.
