Jon,
Someone, and I forget who, told me that it was a snuff movie and we already know the ending. I think I will wait to catch it on the small screen. Blood and gore is always sure to please. Witness, crime scene photographs are worth their weight in gold on the black market. I believe it is at the root of the popularity of CSI:Miami, whereas while the csi's collect the evidence the camera flashes us reinactments as to how the remains could have ended up that way. I heard of one San Antonio lawyer who was just mad for crime scene photos and had a decades long collection of them which he loved to show off to visitors to his law office.

Thanks for the vote of support, Wayne. I would like to view Gibson's movie
just to see what all the contoversy is about. I don't really think the film
will stir up much hatred against Jews. It seems to be more about making
modern Christian people feel Jesus' pain-- that empathy purgation thing
(Greeks called it catharsis). Difference is, the Greeks usually closed their
plays with some powerful metaphysical insight about the pattern of fate, the
dangers of hubris, and all that stuff--so there was a fine balance between
logos and pathos. Gibson's vision is all pathos, from what I've heard, and
thus more degrading than enlightening. But I want to see the movie so I can
wallow in the mire for a couple of hours and draw my own conclusions.
