Hey Richard,

You're talking high-dollar clutchless manual trannys,
no, I had a street car that was built to the hilt, I ran a Zoom four puck racing clutch and pressure plate, with a scattershield around the bellhousing ( I've seen clutches explode, launching off the line, schrapnel can come right through sheetmetal, i.e. trans tunnel, so a scattershield is a must for cars pushing over 500 HP. Dynoed the Camaro once, around '82, was putting out 538 HP and 607 ft/lbs of torque. Traded it in '84 for an old '61 Harley Duo-Glide show bike.
The second saved was from not having to push in the clutch, and shift gears. I set up the shift points on the Turbo 400 to shift at redline (with the titanium pushrods, valve retainers, heavy duty valve springs, lightweight Manley stainless steel valves, high end Crower cam, I could turn 6500 RPM safely), in the 1/4 I would usually run 10.80-10.90 @ 120-130 MPH. In the 1/8, about 6.70-6.80 @ 90-100 MPH.

                     Later,
              Christopher Huffine
